under ground utilities

We are having a bit of dry weather, and our grass/lawn is rather brown. But where the electric, one is direct bury, 25 years ago, and another in PVC, 5 years old. And well, water and electric, 25 years old. You can see right where they are because the grass is greener.
Anyone know why this is.
Doesn't really mater, just curious.

Condensation due to the fact the PVC is likely to be open at least on one end to to the air

Less soil compaction? Or is that trench a
bit lower allowing it to catch a bit more
moisture?

The electric doesn't make any sense, especially if they did it the same way they did mine. They buried the cable 6' under ground to prevent someone from accidentally digging into it. The water isn't so deep and perhaps it's leaking so the ground there doesn't dry out as fast as the rest of the yard.

Dusty,It is like Greg K is saying, and just like sub soiling to break up the hard pan and allow moisture to penetrate down into the ground.Trencher cuts through the hard pan and mixes up the soil.Nothing to do with electricity in the trench.

Possibly compaction, but not so likely after 25 years. I will guess that the fill used holds more water than the undisturbed soil due to some organic matter, or clay instead of sand.

Subsoil mositure is accessed easier because of the disturbed soil. I see it all the time during dry times, which we are presently having now. You might say even after 25 years? The answer is yes. Ask any
experienced backhoe operator and he will tell you that he can see where a former trench was as he is digging.
