computer/internet glitch

Three times in the last month or so when I shut down this windows 10 HP and my wife's on her Apple laptop her internet stops too. Been telling her it's a coincidence but it happened again last night. The router/modem is less than a year old.

Try to keep track of one thing in the future - when this happens, see if she connected before you went online or after. It might be that her device is somehow set to connect to your PC as primary and to the modem as secondary.

If she goes online without your PC on, then she should connect with and stay connected with the modem. But sounds like if your PC is on, that hers will connect with yours over the modem. ....Is that making any sense? Sorry, thoughts seem a little muddy right now. :?

If I remember correctly, all modems will operate on multiple channels simultaneously, so just change your PC to a different channel than what your wife's PC is operating on.

I know this might be a dumb suggestion, but are you shutting down the power to the modem/router when you shut the computer down. Is the modem/router getting power from the same power strip as the computer?

No, I just shut down the computer, and yes I'm pretty sure it's on the same pwr. strip, without actually getting a light and crawling under the desk.
