Made me a tool

Hello,

I needed to clean by chain saw bar. As usual, I was looking for something skinny .050 skinny!
Even my micro screwdrivers were too fat. So here is what I made out of a piece of house wire. Pounded it out so it fits inside the bar, worked good. What to you guys use?

The socket/flat head screw driver combination tool that came with the saw fits the .50 groove in my bar. I have used an old ground down flat head screwdriver for the purpose as well.

Good reminder, one needs to clean their bar and the hole for the oil regularly to keep the bar properly oiled.

A cheap putty knife works good, so does a cheap screw driver with the blade narrowed. Whatever I use, I like to have a good square edge to get the garbage out of the bar groove. I also dress the wire edge off the bar with a file and grease the roller nose. Flip the bar every time you have the chain off, helps it wear more evenly.

Hello,

Billy NY addressed the oil hole. May be the Oregon tool that steve706 has that part that cleans the oil port? Do the rest of you clean the port/oil feed hole to the bar? An hacksaw blade or a putty knife sure won't do,

Compressed air works well to clear the hole, funny though,on the saw where the oil is pumped out, its usually just oil, don't have to clean it, but on the bar, it needs to be cleared.

I have an oak splinter I've been using for years. I need to start marking my home made tools. Everybody throws them away because they look like improvised trash.

A zip tie cut square about the floppy end works pretty good also.
