I am replacing the tie rod end on my JD 750 (Yammer). Screws into a tube which the threads were wore out. Taped it to M18. Long story short,M18 to large,M16 to small. 1.5 thread pitch. Is there a M17?

Yes,There is a 17 size in metric in 1.00 and 1.50 thread size, kind of a oddball. By the way to convert metric to english you probably already know, divide the metric # by 25.4 to get english or times the english number by 25.4 to get metric, sometimes it helps me to determine bolt sizes. Hope this helps.

Mike is correct; M17, pitch 1.5 mm (fine) or 1.0 mm (extra fine) are standardized in ISO 724. M17 coarse pitch is not in this standard. I am in metric country (The Netherlands) and been around machinery all my 62 years and have never come across M17 thread.
M16: 2.0 mm coarse; 1.0 and 1.5 mm fines
M18: 2.5 mm coarse; 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mm fines

If you tapped it to M18, what is too big about it? I also have not seen M17 as a produced size even though it might be in charts. Jim

Went to the Deere dealer today. Parts kid tried to tell me the parts description said it was an M12. No I don't think so. So after a little convincing and him reading closer, he see's it's a M17. He is going to get me a couple of rt hand and a couple of left hand nuts. Deere only had 6 right hand nuts in the system and that was in Atlanta. They had 60 or 160 left hand. Now I have to fix my tube which I tapped to M18.
