GM powered Generator

I have a new 30KW generator with a 4 cylinder GM industrial engine. It is set up for Natural gas. Of course it has all the EPA crap on it and is certified for natural gas only. It has an ECM on it that controlls the timing and fuel mix. Any advise on converting to run on LP vapor?

Know any HVAC technicians worth their salt? Main thing on smaller 'carbureted' engines was changing an orifice, prolly different here. You can go online, probly find someone who's done the same thing.

Give me the model and serial number. Who made it. I can find out more information. On the old systems of that size. You flipped the regulator over and removed the pressure spring. Then made the fuel adjustment. I would think it would be the same on the new units.

You will probably need a conversion kit. That's what you do with Kohlers if you want to switch from natural to LP or vice-versa. Talk to the parts guy at the dealer.

The regulator that came on it is a feedback type with vacium lines going to the mixer, out-put was 3.5 in water colmn. I put a high volume regulator between the existing regulator and mixer, turned it over and removed the spring with a resulting -.5 WC. It starts quick & runs smooth but I get a rich fuel code on the ecm readout. I have not been able to try it load yet.

I sent in a request for information on ECM specs. Nothing back yet. Did some checking on the company. Results were not good. I will let you know what I find out.
