Terror bombing in Manchester England....

How can people become so low as to bomb this concert where many young children were attending. Just whne you think they can go no lower they somehow do. I hope the network responsible is brought to swift justice.

There are people in this world that are still living in the 7th century.

Nearly all such people subscribe to a so-called religion that manifested itself at that time in what is now called the middle-east.

You figure it out.

Dean

Probably.

No doubt, he is wondering where his 72 "rewards" are.

What barbarism.

Dean

I doubt that will effect attendance at other concerts; people will still pay out their money to go to those things. I wouldn't go to one if they paid me a bag full of money.

The responses of "pray for the victims " etc are a sign of mental illness and cowardice. The response should be "lets end this violence".

Bingo.

One cannot negotiate or reason with such animals.

Such animals must be exterminated.

Dean

I don't think this is going to end anytime soon. It takes will and perseverance to combat something like this. We lack the will and our attention span is measured in hours or even minutes, not the decades it will take to triumph over the evil in this world.

The internal fortitude to win no matter the cost is gone in western society, that is the Achilles heel. Until the measures required are taken by all
western countries to curtail the spread of fanatics and radicals there will be nowhere that is safe. It is a game of Russian roulette that we are
playing that will go on until every last extremist is eliminated. No country is willing to step up because a percentage of their population see
everyone as having equal rights and for some unknown reason bend over backwards to appease them. This is going drag on for generations in
one form or another at this rate.

I was told that there was an error in the translation; it is actually ONE 72 year old *******.

Yeabut how do you exterminate them-- you don't know which of them will do this until after the fact. Until then they have their rights.

What, you don't watch TV? One day they'll have "perfect" computer systems that will be able to identify ALL the bad folks, even before they turn bad. Then we can exterminate them before they even get dangerous. *lol*

What truly is scary is that technology such as this really is in the minds of inventors and such! Like, if we can't even predict the weather as well as animals and insects, then how the heck are we gonna know someone will be guilty of a crime before it happens?

What makes this such a horrible enemy is the fact that not even the alleged peaceful folks from their nations/religion will do much to help fight this mess.

I've always known there is an exceptionally small number of people who will rise up against bullies and bad guys, but that number is greatly smaller when speaking of these folks. The way I see it, if you're not actively helping fight evil, then you're contributing to it. There will never be a way to defeat evil unless a majority rises up against them.

A few months after my big ol' rat-killing dog died of cancer, I found rats had moved into a couple of my sheds from the horse stables across the road. No matter how much I reasoned with them, they just kept doing their damage. So I used poison to eliminate every one of them. Sometimes when you face an intractable foe, you have to take drastic measures to control the problem.

I don't mean to insult you because your statements represent what a lot of well intentioned people are feeling, but it does strike me as armchair outrage. I could be wrong. I have two questions that you can answer if you'd like, or just consider:

1. How are you "actively helping fight evil"? If it's by paying your taxes and voting for politicians who talk really tough, that's pretty much the functional equivalent of not doing anything. If it's because you don't know what else you can do, join the club. Most of the people in the world are in the same situation.

2. What do you actually know about what other countries (much less the individuals in other countries) are doing to fight terrorism? Egypt, Columbia, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Yemen, Iraq, Sudan---without looking up any information, can you describe what any of those countries have been doing to deal with local terrorism that, for some, has been going on for decades? If you can, then you're one in a thousand in this country. If you've got no information, only strong opinions, then you're more like one in two.

Personally, I hope you're a well informed person. I wish that everyone was.

Stan -- Nicely written; thank you. Well, that's why I wrote it as "fighting evil", rather than "fighting terrorism". Evil can be in any form, and from any source. I've always been one to try and do what's right, and that includes going after the trouble-makers out there. Again, this isn't directed at any person or group.

Any time in my life that I've seen injustice done, I get involved. It may be as simple as calling it in to authorities, or it may be as personal as getting in between an attacker and his victim. Am a little old for that latter part now, but still would not hesitate if the circumstances allowed. Many folks cower in fear. And many have reason not to get involved, such as maybe wanting to insure they're around to raise their kids, for example. Me, I have no kids. And I've always tried to make sure my wife could do on her own....just in case.

Now I'm sure someone is gonna ask, "by who's definition of 'injustice' are you referring?" Well, my own. As each of us must do. I'm sure most people believe that rape is an injustice, although lots of people wouldn't consider looting to be as such.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I have to admit, I didn't notice the important distinction you made in your previous posting---evil rather than terrorism. I agree with your thinking entirely. In fact, it almost precisely describes the values I've also tried to live by---in that particular area, at least. The small handful of incidents in my life which I remember as being the most worthwhile are those in which I stepped in to stick up for somebody who was being harassed or bullied, and wasn't capable of standing up for themselves. I only wish I'd done it more. It isn't as if there's ever been a shortage of such events. Now, I'm also getting too old to back up that kind of involvement with credible physical presence. I'll have to try reason and persuasion, and I'm skeptical about the power of moral force in our current society.

Thanks,

Stan

Had a neck injury going on 20 years now. Am overweight (so now I can throw my weight around! *lol*), have a bad ankle, but still, I won't hesitate stepping in to help someone. Oftentimes, all it takes is someone standing up to make someone else back down. Sadly, these days the other person just pulls a gun and BOOM! Bye, bye me. So along with this age thing is supposed to be wisdom. I try to use a little here and there....mostly there, but I, too, am a firm believer in talking things out where possible, and taking action when necessary. ...But I don't go "looking" for trouble! ...I just seem to make enough trouble for myself anyhow!

We don't even fight the evil in our own country, much less someone elses. Look at the spread of pornography in this nation. People can't understand why 8 years are raping 6 year olds, but they keep handing their kids a smart phone with unlimited internet access. What do these people think that is? If it's not evil, what is it?

We are doomed unless something changes drastically.

Bingo, Steve.

Interestingly, such fanatics rarely, if ever, perform such acts in, e.g., red China....

Dean

Common sense and western values are despised by that religion. The goal is honorable death and/or martyrdom. Western value do not apply.
The only thing they fear is being killed by a woman or having pork scattered on their graveyard to block thier entrance to heaven and 72 virgins.
