My last V A rant I promise.

This is for the ones that think I shouldn't be mad at the V A.

Got a call Friday from the VA to confirm my address. So I told them my address. Then I hear. Yes we talked to your mother on Monday and she confirmed that you had moved. So I asked how they managed to talk to her. Lady says what do you mean by that. Well my mother died 12-24-2012 so how did you talk to her. Phone went dead.

In the morning I am heading to the VA office to have a chat. My VSO officer sent four copies of my 214 by regeristered mail. He has the paperwork showing they recieved the letter. But again they can't find it. So now do people understand why I am very upset with them.

Billy,

I have not followed your VA issues, perhaps you are being scammed?

I like e-mail or regular mail to go back and forth, at least you'd have a trail and names.

Sounds to me like you have a rotten bunch of folks that cannot or will not listen. That's my take. Hope all will work out for you,

D.

VSO's can copy/fax your records & receive a conformation (From VA ). You can keep your original
records.

Every story is different........have two VA user friends, just visited with one last night (Purple Heart) & both praise VA to high heaven, both on equipment, doctors & equipment/facilities.

Billy, I started making and receiving ALL phone calls using our normal cordless phone, but also record each call with a digital voice recorder, starting (when possible) with date and time. Not only has it straightened out quite a few less-than-cooperative folks on the phone, but it has also set me in my place a time or two as well. Nobody's memory is 100% - I think I'm hovering right around the 12% mark, myself! *lol*

Fortunately our phone rarely rings. We have NO telemarketers calling, and I'd say the phone rings about 1-2 times a month on average.

That is if they don't lose your records. I made the mistake of letting the VA keep my records. Big mistake. This call was not a scam. I called the number several months ago. It went to the VA office.

Funny how the VA can kill vets and no one says a thing. They can go 4 billion over budget on a hospital and no one says a thing.

Billy I have followed your issues with the VA. I just know what can be done here in Iowa. I have had friends that had issues with the VA. They contacted one of the Senators from our state. The staff at the senator's office helped them resolve their issues. Actually very quickly too. Have you tried contacting your senator???

Our state rep will be in town this coming week. I am going to talk with him. Nothing else is working. Myself two VSO officers and a state mental health agency. Can't get any where with the VA.

Billy go vva.org & look up service Officers for you region. VVA is national org. with Pres, J. Ronan, from your state(NY) they have accredited officers. JD Seller has a good idea too.

Drove 150 miles once down to Prescott to the VA hospital there. Got in and sat down with a Dr. and she asked how I have been doing since my heart attack. I have never had a heart attack (so far!).

Billy, Just goes to show why you don't want big brother bureaucrat government in even more charge of health care in general. How's the post office been doing as far as profit and loss compared to private carriers? When my marine son returned from Iraq and was sick I drove him to the VA emergency room, after they kept us waiting 8 hours we gave up and left and after we got home we received a huge parking ticket fine grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Same problems here in Phoenix. I hear that the Tucson VA is quite a bit better than Phoenix. The top administrator in Phx was fired for being imcompetent; now she's suing to be reinstated!

Good friend of mine. Had his mother drive him to the VA hospital in Dallas.Five hours later they told him to go home take some aspirin. Just heartburn.

His mother drove him over to Baylor. They put him in ICU did surgery the next morning to clean the blockage around his heart.

I know the health care is poor. I just want my rating confirmed. Get the money they owe me and I can find my own doctor. I was told in Jan 2013 that I would rate out at 60% maybe more. Backing that up 32 years would give me over a half a million. But somehow from Jan to May. My records went poof.

It's not just the VA, although we have outstanding VA care in the Nebraska/Western Iowa system.

This is the time of year I get nailed with respiratory allergies and needed some medication. I called my regular doctor's office first thing this morning and was told the doctor was out of the office today and tomorrow, but she'd be back Wednesday. I called another clinic in the same system and was told the doctor was out of the office today, but I could see a PA. Which I did.

The local problem with the private health care in my home county started about 20 years ago when the local hospital annexed and incorporated all of the outlying individual clinics. Then for a doctor to have hospital privileges, he/she had to join the corporation. And once they joined the corporation, they became just another corporate flunky instead of an independent professional.

One of the doctors involved has been a long time water skiing and deer hunting buddy of mine, so I got an earful many a time.

(quoted from post at 02:57:42 05/22/17) The VA is something Congress keeps saying they will help, but never fund adequately.

Throwing money at nasty, unhelpful people doesn't help. Sounds like an attitude adjustment is needed.

I do not think just because you have problems with your VA you can justly say all VA are bad. I use the one in Topeka, Kansas and have had great results.
Just asking , why do you think they owe you money?

I know there are good VA units out there. But there also many bad ones.It is just upsetting when you need help and can't get it. Going into my fifth
year with a simple question. Where are my records.

I think they owe me money. Because they said they did. I was told to come in to set up a rating exam in Jan 2013. They set me up for June. Agent
Orange exposure. Was told I would rate at 60% or better. Rating date would begin in 1985. In May I called to confirm the exam. They informed me there
was no exam or records of me being in the VA system. I have been in the system since 1974 have my card to prove it.

(quoted from post at 08:45:38 05/22/17) Same problems here in Phoenix. I hear that the Tucson VA is quite a bit better than Phoenix. The top administrator in Phx was fired for being imcompetent; now she's suing to be reinstated!

And she'll get a raise for the good job she's doing.

Like with anything else some can be good and some are not worth a dime. I have found from one doctor to the next one is good and the other one not worth even talking to same holds true with the whole system. Maybe 1 out of 25 care enough to help you and the others are just there to collect a pay check since they cannot hold a regular job

I know my dad said he would rather die than go back to the one in Topeka - and he did die at home rather than suffer through their treatment.

I use the VA in Albuquerque New Mexico. Some times my appointment schedule goes well sometimes not so well. But I do have two doctors that care about me.I hope that under this administration the bad apples will be removed from the VA.

Are you absolutely sure it was the VA calling instead of some company getting ready to try to sell you something? My VA hospital has never called anyone else in my family and they will only talk to me, not even my wife unless I give my permission. I would go to the patients advocate and tell them what happened and they will get to the bottom of it for you. If that was what happened, write a letter to your congressman. VA turned down paying a local hospital when VA authorized it for emergency surgery. Congressman got it paid. Keith

Thank you moonlite. That is all I am asking for. I am not one to try and get more than I deserve. I just want my records so I can prove what I have been saying is true. So I can get the help I was promised. I only want what thousands of other vets want. What we were promised.

Yes the phone call came from the VA.

Funny thing is people want the military to protect them, but when they come back alive it seems no one is happy to pay to keep them that way especially the politicians who sent them in the first place. The gov has killed more of our soldiers than the enemy lately.

Hope you are not thinking Billy is the one needing an attitude adjustment??Every vet DESERVES every cent they were promised Even if my taxes should be raised to pay the cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Retired early old man deemed 4F because of health, BUT enjoying my UNEARNED peace paid by some in part and sadly in full by others.

Yes I am sure it was from them.Because they have called me several times and I have called them. Just say the words Agent Orange and the phone will go dead.
