Found it in yard. What is it?

A co-worker's son found this in their yard. Nobody seems to have a clue as to what it is.
It is about 4" diameter and has a square nut on it.

That was what I was thinking Dave. I recall seeing an old tractor in 1963 Palmer Texas. In a field had some things like that on the wheals.
 
Looks a lot like a lug off of an Emmerson Brantingham Big 4 gas traction...

I'll go find a pic to post of a Model 30 we saw at a machinist's shop.

They are big beasts!!

Seen them used on old buildings where steel rods ran through the walls at ceiling height..... and the stress "bobber" was screwed on either end of the rod. Kept the walls from pulling apart.
