advice needed on tigwelders

ivor from uk here and I am thinking of buying tig welder as I want to weld different metals and I could do with some advice but the welders across the pond would be different spec to uk thanks in advance

They sell Miller welders in the UK. Check out the Miller Diversion. What is your experience gas welding with oxy/acet ? You going to need about 2100 bucks.

How often are you going to weld and how thick will the metal be? Those two questions determine the cost of the welder.

If you are a hobbyist and welding an occasional thin piece a cheap welder will suffice. If you plan to make money at it, pay for the best welder you can afford. For instance, I need to occasionally cut steel, sometimes half inch thick (13mm) but I'm just repairing my own machinery or some fabrication for myself. I bought a Lotos 50A plasma torch. It does what I need. Now if I were in production, I would spend lots more money and buy a Miller or one like it. My Lotos was $300 USD but the Miller would run me $1500.

What are you trying to do? Tig can be as simple as a 100 dollar tig torch, regulator and bottle connected to any dc arc welder. I have been welding with that on a stainless truck body at work the last few days at work.
