I know this forum is a welders paradise, but I am not a welder, and don't want to become one at my ripe old age.
I have an old Woods D80 mower with rusted spots in the deck. I will only use it a few hours a year mowing pasture grass. Rather than taking it to a welder and having the old decking cut out and new decking welded on, I am wondering if I could cut the smaller rusted areas away and then use this VHB tape to hold the replacement sections to the frame.
If you are not familiar with VHB 2 sided tape, it is used to hold the side panels to the frame of many newer enclosed trailers instead of rivets. Tough stuff, very strong and handles vibrations well. I used the tape to bond the aluminum stone guard on the nose of my horse trailer.
