I know this forum is a welders paradise, but I am not a welder, and don't want to become one at my ripe old age.
I have an old Woods D80 mower with rusted spots in the deck. I will only use it a few hours a year mowing pasture grass. Rather than taking it to a welder and having the old decking cut out and new decking welded on, I am wondering if I could cut the smaller rusted areas away and then use this VHB tape to hold the replacement sections to the frame.

If you are not familiar with VHB 2 sided tape, it is used to hold the side panels to the frame of many newer enclosed trailers instead of rivets. Tough stuff, very strong and handles vibrations well. I used the tape to bond the aluminum stone guard on the nose of my horse trailer.

If you put the patches on the inside, I see no issue. Making the parches mold to the shape of the deck is very important as the tape will only work well between parallel surfaces. Clean is also dramatically important. I would also consider round head screws applied to assure it stayed in place. A piece of metal at high speed is not good. Jim
