Stanley ratchet problem

I have a stanley 89-818 crv ratchet that never has turned forward right since new. I pulled the head apart this morning out of boredom and i found that there was an extra spring caught in the gears. After reassembly the ratchet works like new no slippage to be had. Has anyone else had a problem like this from stanley?

Not Stanley, but I've had lots of tools with small springs and ball bearings that have come loose. Worst one to repair was an ancient Millers Falls hand drill chuck. Trying to get it apart without leaving vise scars was tricky.

I've fixed a number of yard sale ratchets. Usually it's just rust and dirt in the works. Since Craftsman doesn't give you back a decent ratchet anymore, I try to fix them if they break.
