Cedar Shingle Question

Hi, I have a question about where to get some replacement cedar shingles. I have been to Home Depot, Lowes, a few local lumber yards, and online, but can't find 24" long cedar shingles.

These shingles go on a gazebo, and I am trying to match what I already have. They look just like regular 16" shingles, but are 24" long. I think they are considered #3.

I don't think they are considered shakes, because they are not split, but are milled.

I didn't think this would be a big deal to find them, but I keep coming up empty. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can source these, I only need a few bundles to patch the roof?

Thanks,

There was a old iron show, with sawmill that used to set up a shingle saw. Maybe you could get someone to cut what you need if you can't find them. By the way, that shingle saw looked like the most unsafe machine I've ever been around. Not much help but a possible source. gobble

Woodmizer had a shingle making device for their mills. If you can find cedar blocks that long it would make shingles.

Some of the pioneer shows I have been to have demonstrations making them, and they brand them with the name of the organization and sell them, I have a few from different shows. We bought some 40 years ago from a sawmill at Northome MN but it has long been closed. I have some nice cedar trees that would make some!

Go in person to the big roofing suppliers; don't call. They seem to be more responsive to special orders when you're actually in the building.

Try multiple stores, they all have different policies.
