Anyone ever use Colibri powderless 22LR cartridges? Picked some up today while I was Cabela's, never seen any place have them. Was dark when I got home, so couldn't try them. Anything I should know about them? Is there a max barrel length? I like to target shoot, usually close range. Trying to placate some whiny neighbors. Don't mean the big guns won't still come out, though, heh heh.

Don't know about barrel length as I've always used them in pistols. They won't usually cycle a semi-auto, so they're a one-shot proposition but handy for short-range pest control.

They will be used in the kids single shots and my lever gun. Didn't figure they would cycle an auto.

o not fire them in a rifle, there is not enough power to get them to the end of the barrel from what I have heard about those loads.

I use these for eliminating pigeons that roost in our steel shed - they are enough to drop a bird at close range but won't punch holes in the roof. The snap of the hammer is louder than the shot itself. However, I can only use them in a well-worn Remington Model 4 that is pushing 80 years old. I tried one in my Stevens 22-410 and it made it about 3/4 of the way down the barrel before stalling out. The barrel on that gun must just be a little bit tighter than the old Remington, even if it isn't much newer. On the box it says they are for handguns only and it is very obvious why this caution is there. When testing these in your rifles CHECK THE BARREL CAREFULLY BEFORE A SECOND SHOT if there is any doubt at all that it made it out the muzzle.

I have used them for some time. Much quieter than normal 22. I like to compare it to a light clap of the hands. Used it all the time for pests around the house/barn. Also it was perfect for use on the trap line to put animals down without a lot getting a lot of attention due to noise.
As others have posted, it will not cycle semi autos, and will not clear the barrel on some rifles. I used to fire several rounds thru each new rifle then checked the barrel prior to firing another round to make sure the barrel was clear. After firing 4-5 rounds without one sticking in the barrel I called it good.

They work in Marlin Micro Groove barrels. 22" bolt action. Like somebody else said, firing pin is loudest noise. I doubt you could damage a barrel if it didn't clear it, not enough energy in the primer....

I have used them for years. Pesky birds building nests on porch or shop areas, birds scattering dog food, rabbits eating garden, Jack rabbits eating bark off of young trees, etc. work well up to around 30 yards. I shoot them out of a Savage model 72 Rolling Block single shot with a 21 1/2 inch barrel. Never had a problem.
