Hello,

Did any of you take one? I think any gear head should take one. I'm thinking this is my year. There are ride along, or u drive. I choose the u drive one. Now I need to do some research. If all goes well, I am doing the ride before this summer,

Guido.

A guy at work took the ride along. He said he was never so scared in his life and he was 100% convinced there was no way they were going to make it through the first turn without crashing. He loved every minute of it! :)

Hello jgayman,

What track did he take the ride?. I would like a long track. Those 1/2 mile tracks are not on my list,

Guido.

guido ,, texas speedway in yr 2000 hosted our group of farmers , they had serveral regular street styled hoppt up monte carlos andwere giving us rides around the track ,, we ran at85mph ,,. the gal driving said that if anyone asked to go faster she was not to exceed 120,,. so I asked her ,,,and we did,,. smooth as silk ,. the banked curves were amazing when it came to handling,,. I asked her to stop on one ,, I think she said it was bankt 24 degrees ,,.

I've fine the rusty Wallace experience in Sparta ky, where YOU drive yourself....wow. I think we did 15 laps.... it tool that long to trust the car would stay under my butt in the turn, lol

I drove in one at Texas Motor Speedway 5 years ago. I could only afford to drive 8 laps ($350) The car was limited to 150 mph. For $800 they would change the chip so you could get go 180 mph and drive 12 laps. It was fantastic. I was 65 years old. With the banked turns it felt like you were only going 75 or 80 mph. The only problem I had was getting in and out thru the window. Getting out was especially tough because The FLOOR pan is slick aluminum.as I said I drove 8 laps, it seemed like only 4 or 5. I definitely recommend it. Rick

I did the one at Daytona a few years back. In the ride along, you are on the wall side of the car. That will give you some pucker power at first. We averaged 157 mph on 4 laps. So much fun I finally convinced myself to do the drive experience. Totally different when you are in control. Our cars were not restricted as far as I know. We had a pace car in front and strict orders to not even attempt to pass. I heard they had remote shut offs if someone got too brave. In the actual drive experience, we averaged 178 over 4 laps after we proved we could control it at speed. I don't remember the cost. Would I do it again? Absolutely. On the long track the speed will slip up on you before you are aware of it.

On the ride along, the car in front of me as we got in, had an 85 year old woman riding. She was a little unsure getting in but when we returned she asked how much to go again. Her kids and grandkids gave her the experience for her birthday or something. The whole family has been involved in short track racing most of her life so speed wasn't something new to her

On my bucket list, but if you are a dirt track fan, there is a guy in either Kansas or Oklahoma that does the ride along with his Late Model. That will get your heart pumping.

Years ago one of my parts suppliers along with 3M had a contest, for every x dollars you spent you got your name entered once.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the winners.
The prize was a day at the track put on by a company called Proformance Racing, that started with a driving school in the morning followed by professional drivers taking you for a ride on the track in a 350 HP Nascar style car.
Next we got behind the wheel with one of there people along with us.
Finally in the afternoon they let us loose on our own for an unofficial race on the 2 1/2 mile road course.
Had to sign a waiver that made you responsible for the first $10 000 of damage so in the back of your mind you kept things reasonable.
I would do it again in a heartbeat given the opportunity.

I have done the ride along and the drive yourself at Atlanta Motor Speedway. My wife and kids bought both for me and I loved every minute of it! On the driving one I was by myself and was supposedly clocked at 134mph. The ride along was supposedly at 180 and a lot closer to the wall. I would do it again in a minute. Sid

I believe it was the track at Disney World in Florida.

Ive done both, at Charlotte. The thing I didnt like was the fact I had to follow another car, and the driver wouldnt GO! I could tell I had more pedal, but he held me back to like 140mph. The ride along was much faster, like 170 or 180. The guy who was "teaching" us had asked if anyone had any track experience, etc. I told him I use to drive dirt track, and had been on asphalt a couple of times. He explained to us that some people start having tunnel vision going into the turns, but I didnt. It was still fun.

Hello olgentdc,

85 kind of puney, 120 maybe third gear? I wanna go faster then that!

My wife gave me a Richard Petty one at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for father's day a few years back. I was driving in the car by myself but had to follow another car. I Had a Blast..Topped out at 140 mph. Would love to do it again.

Good Luck
Petert

Guido, I did the Petty ride along at Daytona and had a great time. My brother and his son have a dirt track car and they had a great year last year with 5 wins.

Hello ztrmowers,

That is what's good about this site, there are many good people willing to help. Thanks for the offer. I may be able to take you up on the offer, if you are not too far from me. My e-mail is open,

Guido.

Did the Dale Jarret experience at Talladega a few years ago, enjoyed every second, just wished I had calmed down enough to really absorb the moment. One customer, a repeat driver suggested to do the short track (Bristol) to really get the driving experience. Hope to repeat again one day. We went to Talladega due to short wait time versus months waiting to do Atlanta. I think the cost was 4 laps driving for less than 300 dollars.
