Bought the Metal Max

Stopped in at Lowes and bought the Metal Max. Tried it out this afternoon on a piece of 3/32? sheet metal. It definitely cuts.
Thanks for all the replies.
I had three criteria to grade it on. Sound, control and longevity. I was thinking the sound and control aspects were a result of the flutes in the blade. To my surprise the noise wasn?t too much worse than the regular blades. I was able to control the cut as straight as the regular blade. The directional arrows had me testing the spin a few times before I was certain it was right. The printed surface is on the inside. Will have to wait a while to determine if the number of cuts are worth the extra money. So on a scale of one to ten I give it a seven since two out of three are acceptable.

Wheels similar to that can cut concrete and ceramic tile. They last longer cutting concrete and tile when wet. Keeps the dust down too.

I think I will go by one too. I have been buying the 10 packs at HF for several years, when on sale for $6,00 bucks. I have tried some brand name abrasive cutter discs and they had little to no benefit over the HF ones.
Thanks for the previous post and replies that you got.

Have one at work on shop grinder. Was kinda skeptical at first. doesn't get smaller like fiber ones do and doesn't blowup and throw scrapnel every where.

I use cut-off disc all the time for both flat metal and pipe. I use a Metabo 6" grinder and a 6" wheel... a good investment if you're looking to upgrade

I would stay away from H.F. and other cheap knockoffs... they don't last long and I've seen more failures from them.

Stay with a name brand... Metabo , SAIT , Makita..etc.. you didn't mention the thickness of the one use bought but the real slicers are in the .040 to .045 range... and are consumables. If you let the tool do the cutting and not force it to cut more the disc last twice as long... also if you ever drop one or something comes in contact with the disc... check it carefully or discard it... a crack or weak area in the disc spinning at over 10K will ruin your day.

trying to cut metal with a 1/8" or 1/4" rock is such a waste of time and material.

always ... ALWAYS use a guard on the grinder and proper eye protection... I've seen first hand some nasty accidents caused by forcing the tool and not using safe procedures... Also check the RPM on the disc and the grinder... discs should be rated higher than the machine.

I've got porta-band saws and 14" cutoff saws and hardly ever use them anymore since I've gotten the Metabo and the .040 slicer discs...

(quoted from post at 13:58:50 03/20/17) $14.95 + tax, see post below

checked at Lowes today... they had one 6" and it was hanging on a 12.95 peg... took it to the register and it rang up 29.95... told him to just keep it... didn't want to experiment that bad.
