Some loader repairs

I bought an old pauoson loader for my DC Case and it needed quite a bit of work. Starting with the mounting brackets were modified from some other tractor and were not done even amd square. So the first thing was to cut apart one so they could be evened out. As you can see by the spread in the braces it had to be raised about 2" to be level with the other side.

Whoever modified these brackets ran a tube back to the axle and braced that up pretty food, but didn't mount either side to the center of the tractor at all so all the weight was carried from the front cultivator mount to the axle. Once I got it up where it belonged I added a cross piece to help carry and to stabilise the brackets so they didn't want to tip side ways. I ran a 2x4x3/16 tube across under the bell housing and attatched it to the brackets with 2x2x1/4 angle. I also added a tie to one of the bell housing bolts to help carry the weight.

Next was the bucket which was in bad shape. The top was bent pretty badly. A little heat and a lot of hammering and it's pretty straight.

Next was to straighten a couple bent teeth.

Took quite a bit of work with a 20lb mall and my trusty train track anvil to get them straight, but they look ok now.

Then I made a new one to replace a lost one out of an old disc shaft.

Then on to the dirt plate which was bent and missing one of the brackets to hold the tooth.

Was more hammer work and cut a pice of tube for the bracket and weld it on.

Last was a mount for a dual hyd valve because the dc only has one hydraulic remote.

That's all the pics I took of thos project. I still have to straighten the bottom of the bucket where the teeth are as it is bent a little too and I'll have to rebuild some of the cylinders as they leak some. But it works now and I will have something to lift with when I need it.

Looks like you've been busy. I've got a similarly abused & neglected loader to rebuild in the not-so-distant future. I think the bucket is still salvageable and I can make repairs to the loader arms, but this thing has certainly seen some abuse.

When did you do all that work to yours? We've still got 2' of SUPER-hard snow on the ground!!

Nice job!! Seeing the damage and general poor condition of that loader makes me curious about the shape and condition of the tractor it had been mounted on previously. What was someone trying to do that caused the bucket to get all bent of shape like that?

The Farmhand loader I mounted on my M was not quite as bad as your Paulson, but still, how can a guy tear up and bend a loader like that without wrecking the tractor it is on?

What kind of bit did you use on the disc shaft to drill the hole? I have a bucket that Im going to
need to make a few teeth for.

Worked on it mostly on tues and some yesterday, monday it was raining so I worked on my 1030 in my
neighbors shed. All that wind made it a real joy to weld. Lol
