Expanding Foam Mess

Anyone have a concoction of secret chemicals that will get dried expanding foam off my hands?

I've tried lacquer thinner, acetone, finger nail polish remover, Boraxo hand soap, laundry powder...

Got church in the morning, they'll think I didn't even bother washing my hands! LOL

A wire brush works, but it's not fun. Sandpaper may also work in some cases and is less unpleasant. I think that any chemical that would dissolve the foam probably wouldn't be very nice for your hands.

Been there and done that....lol. There is no way to remove that stuff, once it dries...let it wear off...it takes a few days. I always say, next time I use that crap..i will wear rubber gloves...but I never do....lol I feel for you!

I've used linseed oil or a linseed oil/turpentine mix (I use that as a first coat for old, dried-out wooden handles as it soaks in better) with some success--rub it on, let it set a couple minutes, and then take it off with a pumice-based hand cleaner. It's no magic bullet, but it does speed up the normal "wear-off" period somewhat.

Try olive oil, I was told it removes paint, but not sure about that foam, I hate getting that stuff on my hands, I should remember to wear nitrile gloves or whatever you call those thin latex dr gloves.

I suppose you want your hands clean for church tomorrow? BTDT. It's tough to get off of anything. I got some on my jeans and it never did wear off.

I have avation permatex on my fingers. Itll wear off ina day or two. dog doesn't care as long as she gets fed and rubbed on.

Baby oil speeds up the process a little , easier on your hands as well . Mix in some spent coffee grounds as a mild abrasive .

Easy solution, Just don't go to church. If people are that picky about a working man attending church they have more problems than any sermon that a preacher delivers is going to solve.

Steve,

When going to church, formally attired, do NOT forget to wear your white gloves. Most older gentlemen, especially wrench turners wear their gloves, white shirt and tie., and, their pin stripes and overcoat.

Hand the overcoat on the rack, provided. Keep gloves on just to cover-up the IVY POISION, especially in the summertime.

Recently the lady preacher hugged everyone in the congeration, but, she only shook MY hand. Christmas EVE services.

John,PA Usually stained fingers from alcohol stains from the fruit wood stains.
