When I charge a battery on my 20 volt Dewalt charger it always smells hot like plastic burning. Not hot to touch, but warm. Should I be concerned?

Hello Gary from Muleshoe,

Is it a new battery?. New plastic smells getting warm the first few times, not HOT! to the touch should be of no concern. Check the voltage as soon as it stops charging. Should be 21 volts max. Normally the pack will settle @ 20 volts. Any voltage above 22 volts is TOO MUCH,

Guido.
