My brother and I kicked up this grease pistol from the dirt floor in an old machinery shed. I wish I had taken a before picture because it was coated in grease, rust, and dirt. But a few passes with the wire wheel and dunks in the sonic parts cleaner and it came back to life. We filled it with grease and put on a modern tip and now it resides in my plow toolbox ready to go.

Nice save. I have one like that, was in the garage of vacation house when we bought it. I put a point on it and keep it in the box with extra chains and files for my big saw.

I have one like that (without the .22 bullet dent) that I have a pointed tip on, use it on the bench to have handy grease available. For bearings, threads, etc. in assembling things. Handy and not quite as messy as sticking a finger in a tub of grease. I put a zerk fitting in the tip to fill it with from a regular grease gun. Good for injecting grease into sealed bearings, the ones with steel seals/shields. The bearings with "rubber" seals, you can pry the seal out with a smooth tool under the small dia., then grease it.
