Roundup weed sprayer..

I bought a gallon of Roundup that had a trigger type spray nozzle. The plastic piston with an o-ring on it will return very slow after the trigger is pulled. I sprayed it with silicone lube but it didn't make any difference. I don't know if it will return faster once the temperature goes up or not. It was about 65 this morning and still returning real slow. I couldn't see any way to take it apart and increase the clearance.

Those trigger type nozzles that come with various spray are really junk. I have a 2-gallon garden sprayer that I pump up, but I can't close the nozzle enough to just let out a little Roundup; it will pump out a gallon quite fast.

i buy the rural king brand sprayers, you can get them on sale for about 8 dollars of a 2 gallon. they also have the 1 quart squitry bottle ones (kinda like a windex bottle for a couple dollars. i use the generic glyphosate 41%. 2.5 gallons will run about 35 dollars, and the application rate is generally 1 qt per acre. in small quantities, you can mix it hotter for spot work on a tough one. a little 24-d added to the mix really gives it some toot!!!!

I don't know what to tell you,but barrel pumps don't seem to last long in 30 gallon drums of Roundup. The innards seem to swell.

2 oz per gallon for pump up sprayers. And don't depend and rinsing to change spray. Get a different bottle for each pesticide.

Roundup was originally created as tank cleaner. So it is a very good solvent. It attacks some types of rubber and plastic. So the soft components of the cheap sprayers do not last.

I got tired of having issues with the cheapie hand pump sprayers lasting a year or two. Bought a solo backpack 10 years ago and no problems .

I don't have a JD Gator as my place doesn't need it. I do have a home built machine that suffices. It's an old JD L110 hydrostat mower with a new V twin engine, the deck removed and 5psi balloon ATV studded tires on it. I mounted a back pack on the rear of it and an old basket from a bottom freezer refrigerator on the hood.

I installed a 60# 2 gpm 12v motor on it. Besides using it as my get around vehicle, I use it to MURDER Fire Ants and spray fence lines and other undesired vegetation. At 4 gallons it's just big enough to do good sized jobs and small enough to be out of the way.
