Ingersoll Rand 2707 impact gun

I am looking at several IR half inch impact guns they all three look identical. One is marked model 2707 the other two the marking is long gone. Here is the question what is the part # for a tune up kit for the 2707. Should it be the same for the other two that look the same. A google search came back to a picture of a if I recall IR # 231c or a c231 gun and a kit # OF 231-TK2 and never mentioned the 2707 gun in the literature. Thanks for the help, a friend is relocating his shop and gave them to me knowing I like to fix things.

Angle Iron,Don't know if you have a Ingersoll-Rand 2707 or if it is a Ingersoll-Rand, 2707P1 or if they are the same unit, but here is a kit on ebay if that will help you.

t just says 2707 for model but that's the same kit # I found about an hour or so ago. So thanks for the verification on what I found. I guess I will eventually take all three apart and see if they are the same inside. Thanks for the help.

The 2700 series are industrial version. It appears usues same parts as 231C. There is newer 231H that has different throttle setup

I dug into the guns this morning and also talked to the gut that owns them. One was new in the box and didn't work the other two he has had for a long time and thought they may be worn out as they had lost strength over time. The one that he said was new he told me he picked up with a group of tools from a former gas station/garage owner who had shut down and retired maybe 10 or more years ago. These and many other tools had set in an unconditioned building. The assembly grease had set up and stuck the vanes in the air motor as well as the drive hammers. I had thought it was an old tool as well as it was dirty and scratched up. come to find out it had ridden around as a spare on his truck bouncing around for a while before and after he found that it didn't work. A little solvent and new lubricant and it seemed to do great. The vanes were new and looked to be the same size as those in the two other guns. I did find that one was missing a socket head bolt and the others were loose. It would barely run. The other was weak but did run and hammer just not very hard. The socket head bolts were not tight on it either. What I found on 2 and 3 were blown gaskets where the air motor and the impact head come together. I cleaned and lubed everything freed up the vanes and oiled. Cut new gaskets and reassembled. All three seem strong to me, time will tell. I gave them back to my friend and told him to try them and if need be we can order and install kits in them. I think the two had just had gasket problems based on the bolts getting loose and blowing the gasket. Anyway thanks for the help and don't be afraid to tear into one of these they are simple and their are videos on you tube. Thanks

Here is the strongest MF'er in a half inch you'll find.

I could undue VW bus axle nuts at 238 lb/ft of torque. Same with VW flywheel nuts at the same torque.

We had an IR, that would sit there chattering and never get it loose. The Rockwell, half a second and it was off. I don't know what they did to make it the torque monster, but it is.
