Rusty Band Saw Blades

I inherited a bunch of tools and equipment from the uncle in-law. Some of which was a bunch of wood cutting band saw blades. They had been sitting out in an unheated shop and have a light rust coating on them. They all appear to be brand new and very sharp, witness the bandages on my hands. What should I do about the rust? I was tempted to just put them on the saw and run some scrap wood through it just to work the rust off. Any other ideas?

I would store those blades in a place where they will not get any worse, and when you need one, just install it and use it.

I have a bunch that came with the old Delta 14 inch saw I bought for $100.
I just put them on and use them.

Use them on scrap wood first until the rust no longer stains the wood or your project will suffer.

I wouldn't worry about the rust. Anything you cut that showed would need to be sanded anyway. The rust will quickly wear off.

Use them as is. I run a sawmill and some times hit nails. Then you have bad teeth. I leave those outside. I have used blades that were outside for 2 yrs or more. Makes for hard sharping but no problem using in saw.
