Another air compressor ?

Have a old cambell hausfeld air compressor late seventies or early eighties. Check valve screws into tank and is obsolete. Thought it was regular pipe threads but it's between 1/2 and 3/4 pipe threads. Anyone know what threads it would be? I can gut the existing check and use what's left to plumb a check in line but just curious about the threads.

Are you sure there isn't part of the old check valve, or some sort of adapter still screwed into the tank "bung"?

If not, considering the age, it wouldn't hardly be metric, what about British Pipe Thread?

I bet you can find one on ebay. Campbell Hausfeld made compressors for Speedaire, Sears and probably a lot of different companies.

Most all the air tanks have female pipe thread fittings welded in them.Be sure that you don't have part of the old check valve still screwedd into the pipe thread tank fitting.

I think BSP is the same size as NPT, just a different thread angle, and the pitch is different on some sizes. BSP does include a 5/8 which NPT does not.

Nothing in bung but female threads. close to or may be 7/8 bolt coarse threads. Can find plenty of check valves with standard pipe threads, but others can't tell me what threads they have.
Check inlet has standard threads so I can gut existing check and ad a standard thread one with some fittings to it if needed.

May not be worth the cost or time but they make thread gauges for that.

Ran into something like this once it is Not pipe thread. Might be straight thread like a bolt or fine thread bolt. Gently try screwing one in. Was maybe something special.

I would go for part of the old valve is still in there, or maybe it's some kind of tubing size/thread.

If it's not 1/2" or 3/4" pipe thread it must be 5/8". Ingersol Rand makes a 5/8" check valve. They are listed on ebay but there isn't a lot of them so it may take some searching.
