Heading east from Erie PA into new york and saw a bear crossing sign.
That was the first for me!

Lots of bears there and east of there, take the back road from Bradford Pa to Olean NY and you will likely see more than signs, you could have stopped in Jamestown NY and saw the Lucy and Desi museum.

Enjoy the view, some nice spots out there, I spent a couple years out there automating some factory equipment, I-86 can be fun to run this time of year, not a lot in Olean, Restaurant impossible did an episode at the Oleander restaurant on Main Street, if the same woman runs it I would go to Perkins, Dresser Rand is the big employer there, from that area south to Dubois PA lots of empty factories, if your in a big rig you don't want to take that route down to I-80, 219 is a scary route.

I haven't seen the signs but bear crossing and getting hit on the road here in the Catskills is pretty common. SWMBO lived on a dairy farm in a small town near Jamestown NY for a couple years and loved it.

Twenty years ago the wife and I were driving just south of Salisbury in UK, and saw a "Tank Crossing " sign. Just then the barrel of a tank's cannon poked out from behind the hedgerow.
