I want to connect an upright air compressor from its outlet to an inline regulator. the operating pressure will be abour 120 PSI. The problem is the flexible hose..when I try to thread it into the inlet the hose wants to twist up because therei is no union as you might have in plumbing. What is the best way to connect to the regulator. Can I use a union? thanks in advance.

I run down to the local truck/parts shop and get a steel braided air hose for truck air application and the brass fittings that fit the tank and hose. The hose is a common pre-made hose that comes in different lengths.

I think they are called air compressor leader hose.

I put my compressor in one corner of the shop and wanted an outlet on the other end.
I ran a 50 foot hose along the bottom of the wall inside some plastic pipe and connected the end to a pipe
with a coupler that sits just above the back of the bench. I was trying to figure
out how to connect it as you are. A simple fix, I just added a coupler (female on
the end of a regulator and male on hose) Sometimes things are simple.

To make use of the hose you have simply connect it up with a hydraulic swivel fitting.

They are available in 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", etc. pipe thread.

had several different compressors in the tire shop over the years-- do as Bob says and you won't have any problems.
