ABS cutting

Bought a piece of 1/4 ABS for a panel to mount meters and switches in; building a generator controll for automatic switching. I am assuming that a saber saw with a fine blade would be best for cutting out holes, Anybody got a better idea?

Pipe cutter/tubing cutter makes a nice even smooth cut. Just have to feed it nice and slow. Some even have a thin disk to cut plastic with.

If you are cutting holes for conduit to come through or wiring a spade bit works very well. then for bigger holes a jig saw.

A medium blade would work better. Fine might clog up. I've dona a lot with ABS and it works similar to wood.

A fine blade will most likely start to melt the ABS. I use a skip tooth band saw to cut plastic parts to grind to reuse the material back thru the molding press. If forced thru the saw even with a course blade it will melt a ridge on the down side. Which doesn't make any difference for me. Any wood cutting blade would work if it is let to cut its way thru without trying to hurry it. I have about 20,000 pounds of black ABS in my warehouse if you would like to make your own stuff.
