Back during the summer I picked up a Mitsubishi MGE 4000 generator at a auction. It runs fine after a little carb cleaning and even had a brand new fuel tank on it that had never had gas in it. Problem is the foam air filter had disintegrated and I have yet to find a replacement. From what I have read on the internet they didn't import this unit but a few years. Any idea where I might find one and your thoughts on the quality of these generators. Depending on your opinion I'll either keep it or sell it.

Thanks

The few I have worked on. Seemed to be good units. The problem you run into. Is finding parts as you have found out. Then you have shops that will refuse to work on them. No shop wants an item sitting around taking up space. When they can't find parts for it. I have had to make filters out of foam blocks. I ordered a switch for one from Australia and I live in Texas. I would make a filter for it and use it for as long as you can. Or sell it which is best for you.

The problem with the short production run or imports. Is no support from the OEM.

Thanks Billy. I have less than $150 it it so I think I'll just order some foam and make a filter for it and keep it around. I have a larger unit that will run my house if we get a hurricane but this one is big enough to keep things running in my shop if I need it.

FloldFord: I found an online parts diagram. The number is a KA40059AA. There is a several places that have them. Does this look like the filter you need???

I showed that to a customer last year. He just about had a fit when he saw the price. As he was getting into his 60 thousand dollar truck. Some people can make you shake your head.

I know what you mean Billy. I have a little compact JD sitting in the shop right now that a fellow brought me to be serviced. I opened the hood on it tonight and it had the biggest rat nest that I have ever seen. Wires chewed up and a hole chewed through the air cleaner housing. Sent him a text and told him this one was not going to be cheap to fix and he pitched a fit. He drove it here yesterday and his wife came and picked him up in a brand new 2017 F250 platinum that cost about as much as I make each year. Go figure.
