Last chapter for dishwasher, I hope.

Spent a lot of time researching dishwashers online. Using Lowes home page I could do a side by
side comparison. I compared everything to my 10 year old kitchenaid. Made a list of what I wanted
and what I didn't want. I wanted SS tub, disposer, water heater, high temp wash cycle, heated dry.
I didn't want to clean a screen. I didn't want a wet moldy smell inside, which is one reason I
wanted an heating element for drying.

I had three stores in Terre Haute to pic from, Sears, HH Gregg, and Lowes. Went to all three
stores. Told the salesman what I want list was. That eliminated many models Including the popular
Bosch.

Only store to have a floor model on display was HH Gregg. It was a Maytag 47 db. I really wanted
something other than a Maytag, but all the rest didn't have all the things on my want list.

I went back to Lowes and ordered a Maytag 47 db. Get Jan 2. Bought a Lowes 5 year extended
warranty for $119. Sears and HH gregg wanted $199 for a two year. HH Gregg wanted $650, Sears
$675, Lowes after 5% off using Lowes CC, $570.

Pays to shop around and know what you want in a dishwasher.

I asked a salesman at HH gregg why so many dishwashers not have a disposer. He said it cheaper to
make without a disposer and some people want quieter models. No heating elements gives dishwasher
a higher rating on energy efficiency.

If I couldn't find all the things I wanted, I would have repaired my 10 year old kitchen aid.
I read the reviews on the Maytag 47 before I decided too. About 300 reviews.

By getting new one after the first, no chance it will break down over new years.
THE END.

Local Lowe's has an 11% rebate thing to compete with Menards. Do you have one of those in the area, might be able to get a match thing as Menards is running one again this week.

To get price matching Menards would have to carry dishwashers. Menards has ranges, washers dryers, refrigerators. I checked, no dishwashers. Then the model numbers on dishwasher would have to match. HH had 11% off, their prices was still more and so was their extended warranty. Lowes prices beat Sears and HH.

When it comes to appliances, I've found Lowes is the go to place. I know for a fact Lowes extended warranty is worth every penny. It seems nothing is made like it used to, so an extended warranty is a no brainer for me.

Our Menards has dishwashers but I usually go to Lowe's also. The 11% rebate can be on anything but it might be a regional thing too. The way it works is when you buy something, they have a bar code on your receipt that will give you the rebate on your next purchases the next time you come in. They are only good for a short time but you can get a new one each time you buy something.

I'm a frequent Menards shopper and buy many things when on sale, or free after rebate or 11% rebate. I was there when shopping for dishwashers, they didn't have any period. Besides I wanted a 5 year extended warranty. Lowes is by far the cheapest in Terre Haute.

Mark,
I know maytag is another kitchen aid.

Wait until you replace what you have and find out all the things missing in the so called super quiet washers.

Missing is the disposer, water heater, warm air dryers.

Added are handles sticking out, screens that filter water, you have to remove food particles.

So today's dishwashers, you have to pre wash dishes, run them through wash cycle, then you have to dry dishes. So you wash and dry dishes, why even have a dishwasher?

The only reason I didn't buy a new control panel was mine is 10 years old and the thermal fuse was blown. I couldn't find the source, but I thought there could be a major short in motor.

I bought a 5 year extended warranty too. My experience with clothes washers they seem to just make it past the one year factory warranty before they break. I like Lowes extended warranty. They pay off and no charge on service calls. One service call will pay for warranty.

If you go to Lowes home page, you can compare 4 models with a side by side list of all the things the washers do and don't have. Also read hundreds of reviews. You will see the Bosch lacks a disposer and water heater, air dry.

Our Kitchen Aid has been great, it's quiet and has a nice display on the front that tells what it's doing. Has several different modes for quick wash to heavy duty. The Bosch it replaced seemed to take hours to finish no matter what and was LOUD.
