Pole Barn / Machine shed

I am thinking about putting up a pole type bar for a machine shed. Have several tractors and bush hogs that need to be out of the weather. Does anyone have some good plans and designs they can share? Thanks.

The design would vary depending on how much equipment you have and cost and space you have. If you are going to work on the equipment in winter then you would probably need to fully insulate the building where if you are just storing equipment you might be able to get away with just insulating the roof. Summers are brutal in a completely non-insulated building.

Someone on here posted plans a couple days ago from the University of Tennessee. Some were pretty nice. I'm going to use one of them when I build mine. Plowboy 91879 posted this.

Might want to consider where you live, snow load, humidity causes tool to rust, condensation. Insects too. In the fall after crops are harvested it time for lady bugs to find someplace to winter. No way can I keep them put of pole barn. This is the first year for a stink bug invasion. They are all over and worse than lady bugs. Too many places to keep the critters out.

I use my pole barn to keep everything out of the elements, workshop when it's warm, take a break when it extremely cold. I have no plans to heat or cool mine. I designed mine with 1 ft eves for ventilation and keep water from running down the sided. Ridge vent and power vent.

Someplace I read there is a recommended ventilation requirement based on square footage. Bottom line you need both eve and ridge vents. May want to research ventilation requirements in your area and ways to prevent condensation on inside of metal roofs.
Just my 2 cents.

I would recommend some kind of condensation stop under the roof steel. Why build a building if it's going to rain inside? Condensation can also be reduced by putting poly under the concrete when the floor is poured, Many concrete contractors do not want to do this as it takes longer to finish, but it is your floor!

Are you thinking open side slant roof, peak roof enclosed building, lean to?
