Figured out Kitchenaid problem

After using bleach and vinegar the trabidity
sensor started working. Dishwasher would
now wash, rinse and go through dry cycle.
The clean light never came on and wash and
energy saver light never shut off.

Thanks to MarlB for posting his electronic
brain box was good and he had to replace
front touchpad. That got me to thinking my
start button was stuck in the on position.
So the only small suction cup was a nurf
dart. I pushed in on dart to start wash
cycle. Then gently pulled out on dart. Sure
enough the start switch was stuck on the
start position. Toy fixed it. I will still
set the timer on the range for an hour and
10 to make sure dishwasher shutdown
completely after it completes dry time.

Front touchpad costs more than I care to
spend on 10 year old dish washer.

Get a Bosch next time. Mine is 22 years old and only needs to have the debris screen cleaned at the bottom of the tub for it's only service.

I have a 25 year old Kitchen aid at my other
house and I haven't had to do anything to
it.

I'm thinking the switch may have damaged by
pushing in on it with a sharp finger nail.

Nurf dart may solve that problem.

George check for your touch pad on Ebay. I need one a few years ago for the Bravo dry we used to have. I found one on Ebay. Only cost around $30.

I did $150 for used ones and I'm not sure it will work. OEM prices again are off the chart. I've learned there are a ton of different touch panels and control boards available. Can't really locate the exact part # using my Model and serial #.

Almost thinking of using a 70 minute timer and removing all power to dishwasher. It will be simple for me to do electrically and cheap fix.

In the mean time a rubber suction cup works. Even thinking of super gluing a suction cup to start switch so the concave cup will pull the switch out.

Good news, I figured out what iss causing machine to start nother wash after the drying cycle ended. Don't need the electronic control panel just need to locate a touch panel.

Ho-ho-ho, George!

It's a good idea to keep a suction cup handy in case of snakebite. I keep a bottle of whiskey on hand for the same reason.

I've been getting my parts from repairclinic.com, mainly because they're open seven days a week and if I need a part immediately they're a fifty minute drive from me. See if you can find your part here. Looks like prices have gone up since I bought mine.

Since most systems like that only need the initial "on" pulse to start everything going, while the switch itself returns to it's normal "off" position; why not do it the simple, cheap way by removing the wires from that individual touch-pad and fastening them to a SPST MOMENTARY CONTACT Toggle Switch.

:>)

Dr.
I thought of that, but Kitchenaid doesn't use wires, they use a plastic ribbon with metal foil as the conductors. Like a computer, the ribbon plugs into the control board. I don't want to mess with the ribbon, too fragile, never been able to repair ribbon if I damage it.

To widen my search I've googled pics of kitchen aid control panel. Found one that looks like mine, but it's white. All the places I've looked at want me to enter my model number on dishwasher and they don't show mine.

I think after Christmas, I may contact the company that has a panel that looks like mine and tell them what I have and see if theirs is compatiable. I even located the part number on control board. Until then we set the timer on range. When dishwasher's drying cycles is completed the clean light comes on. If it doesn't the wash cycle begins again. That's when we have to open door to stop it.

Good news is I won't be guessing at what part I need. I just need to find the right part.
thanks,
geo.

HO HO HO, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW MARK.

All I'm going to get is RAIN, RAIN AND MORE RAIN.

Thanks, I put my dishwasher model number in and there is my touch panel and control panel together, $144.15.

How is their return policy if they send me a defective part?
Have a Merry Christmas U-ALLs.

Easier said than done. That panel is a big printed circuit board. You would have to locate the correct traces, cut them and solder in leads to go to your switch.

George has a good solution, even if it does look mildly obscene.

Well George, if all else fails, there's always the last resort - do like I do, use old-time technology: "Arm strong" Manual Dishwasher. Rub-a-dub-dub, scrub your dishes in a tub. LOL
