I got an ad for these -35 degree socks in my email. Supposed to be made with aluminum fibers. 3 pair for $20. Has anybody tried them? Are they any good? I always have cold feet.

I would like to know also. I always have cold feet. I bought a pair of battery operated socks a few years ago. They worked for about a week and then quit. They were too expensive to throw away and I couldn't fix them, so I just used them as regular socks until they wore out (which wasn't very long).

I don't use the heated socks any more. I buy boots with 1000 grams of Thinsulate and heavy boot socks and feet don't get cold. If I wear boots that don't have Thinsulate lining I use those heat packs that you put on bottom of boot and they will keep feet warm for over 10 hours. They also make them to put in your gloves.

I bought the duluth heavy weight socks, really keep my feet warm and I've got renods (poor circulation to extremities) 2nd winter with these socks and second winter in about 15yrs I've had warm toes.

Unless you've got a really well paying career that requires you to suffer out in the cold, simply avoid being out in the cold. That's what I've done, 'cause being cold SUCKS!

Talked to a friend of my wife today, she's cold and miserable and has all sorts of things that should have been done before a North Dakota winter set in.

She has 19 horses for no apparent reason, and they don't help with the chores or the bills, but getting rid of them is out of the question.

You can't fix STUPID!

Get some good wool socks and if you have to work outside get some surplus Mickey mouse boots. No cotton on your feet, you can get silk or polypropylene socks if you can't stand the wool on your skin, but NO COTTON.

I wore a pair of Sorel pak boots for forty years. They always kept my feet warm. When I got new boots I kept the Sorels and ended up going back to them twice. Two years ago I finally got another pair of Sorels. They aren't like the old ones but they still work. If you want to stay warm all you need to do is take the liners out overnight so that the moisture can dry out.

OK, guys. A couple of you wanted to know about these socks, too, but it seems nobody has tried them. I have also had Sorels for more that 40 years. recent pair (about 15 years) are the super arctic ones but they're not as good as the old green ones I always had and they're much bulkier. The felt liners look good but it's an artificial felt and not as warm. It doesn't fluff up like real felt when I wash them. The new Sorels are junk. I agree, wool socks are the best. Guess I won't bother with the "aluminum" socks.

Absolute best boots I ever bought were Military surplus, they are not the air filled mickey mouse boots, but are similar and have about 1/2" wool liner in between the inner and outer layer rubber. Feet never get cold in them, and they were cheap....

Maybe my new Sorels are Junk but they have kept my feet warm so far standing around at 5 degrees for the last two winters.

I agree. I went through 3 or 4 pair pf Sorels back in the 70's and early 80's. They were different than what you get now, lots better.

Yup, they make the Mickeys with the air valve and without. The black ones are rated to warmer temp than the white ones. The white ones are more expensive but they ARE warmer...and heavier.

We have tried alpaca wool socks and like them so much we are shopping for more tonight to give the kids and grand parents as Christmas gifts.

I believe the older Sorel boots were made in Canada, Most likely the new ones are made in China. That generally means junk no matter how good the item used to be.

We ahve a place that sells Wigwam 100% rag wool sock "irregulars" at a decent price. I have about 10 pair. When my feet get wet from sweat I swap them out for a fresh pair. Works great and I think I have the coldest feet in human history.

If your talking the of the aluminum thermal socks like the ones I have pictures above forget them they really didn't help.My wife and I use to snowbile and tried them and really didn't work. Felt lined snowmobile boots helped but we found the best thing to keep feet warm all day long was to go to boots that are Thinsulate lined with silk sock next to skin and a pair of 100% wool socks over the silk.

My favorite socks are Heat Holders brand socks. They are very warm. You can mail order them or get them at a lot of different stores. Moisture wicking and very thick that provide cushion and warm toes even on the coldest of days. I got cold feet when its cold outside. These keep me toasty warm.

Nice Review on Heat Holders

OK, I read a lot on this forum and others so here goes. I did buy 35 below socks at Walmart. They are black with silver toes and heels. They do work but I don't think -35 below. They say on the label you can put another pair of heavy socks over these. I do know if my toes feel cold all I do is wiggle my toes and you can feel the socks warm up. There is my 2 cents.
