I have a 1983 Chevy Suburban with 385,000 miles on it, the engine is good, the body is shot, it will not start and I
believe the neutral safety switch is bad. is there anyway to bypass it?Its parked on the street and I would like to
move it, thanks for any help

Hello GaryInKS,

Just unplug the wires and put them together. Make sure you are in park, it will now start in any position of the gear shift lever, if the switch is the only problem,

Guido.

The neutral safety switch is on top of the steering column above your shins, the two wires involved are PURPLE.

Dunno where your diagnostics area headed, but simple to figure out once you know how it works.

You could just jump from the positive battery cable on the starter to the solenoid to get it to crank...simple and direct for a one time effort.
