hyd cylinder

On a hyd cylinder I have it got dented in , guy at shop said he could make new tube -I got to wondering what tool do they use to make the end of the tube larger where the gland screws in-

After paying hyd shop to rebuild same cylinder many time. I bought a new cylinder from International Hydraulics for just a few dollars more than it cost me for one rebuild.

I forget where they are made. It's not china. So far I happy with it. BYW I ordered a rebuild kit too, only $25.

At the factory, they probably had some type of swedger or a drawing die in a huge press. A machine shop will not be equipped to do that, which means doing a lot of lathe work. That will get real expensive!

Like George said, look for a new one before investing too much in that one. If there is a pair, best replace both to get equal performance.
