Tools For Christmas

Did you tell Santa Clause you wanted a tool for Christmas this year? Told him I wanted a miter saw, sure hope it's under the tree on Christmas morning and not a box with a brick in it LOL.

Pressure washer for me and my wife asked for a electric leaf blower. I got her the Dewalt DWBL700 the reviews sounded good. She also saw an add on TV for Blue Man Group and said we should go sometime so I got tickets for 12/28 in Boston. I also got her some miniature tractors for her stocking to go with her old toy farm set for when the grand kids visit.

I think I would like a cordless impact driver. Its for the hex style screwdriver tips. Never had one are they much better than using
regular cordless drill?

My wife and I have a deal. If she doesnt buy me tools for Christmas and I wont buy her any clothes, save us from making returns LOL.

Absolutely better than a regular cordless drill. They can drive 4" screws without and issue. I have even used them to get small lag screws started before switching over to a ratchet. The only time I use a drill for driving screws is when re-assembling something and want the clutch to prevent over-driving.

Be sure to buy the proper impact rated screw bits for the impact driver. The cheap bits that come in the larges multi sets only last one or two screws. I usually use DeWalt bits in my Craftsman 19.2v impact.

I am thinking one of those AR-7 rifles like written up in the latest American Rifleman. Now they
are being make by Henry it seems the quality is OK, they can store two additional magazines in the
butstock along with the one in the receiver. Don't really need one, but they have attracted me for
years, maybe now is the time.

Absolutely--I bought a DeWalt 18V one used several years ago and it's pretty much put both my cordless drills AND my air impacts out to pasture. As mentioned, make sure you're using impact-rated bits and sockets, but you'll be amazed by what one can do.

Have you been to it? Several people have told me they put on a great show I am not looking forward to driving in Boston though I am thinking of taking the T in from the alewife station.

This is what my boy wants for Christmas, Underwood No 5. I was lucky to find it, especially in the shape it's. It's almost 100 years old.

BTW, it's cordless.

Boy that brings back memories. Learned to type on one like.that and used it all through college.

I'm like you. I prefer to get my own tools. I appreciate the gift but it's usually something I don't want or need. I have a '29 Model A Ford. All original Tudor.

That's great, who would expect anyone in this day would want a MANUAL typewriter. I have a Smith Corona that I used to use before the computer. It should be still good if I clean it and oil it up. I have been thinking of doing that just because I like the older stuff.

Yes they are better than a regular cordless drill. Home Depot has the Ridgid cordless impact driver, 18 volt battery, charger, and storage bag for $79. I have used this tool and it does a real good job. It is also guaranteed for life.
