I know some of you have IDEALARC 250 welders. I came across an operating manual I forgot I had and an electrode selection chart. Paste these links into your browser to download them from dropbox.com

Thanks, Mike. It took years, but I finally burned up all the color coded electrodes that accumulated around the shop. I am sure some are still out there, and if they have been kept in a sealed can, most will still be usable. I always wanted one of those welders, but they would bring about 5 times what a 225 would bring,so I never got one. Got a friend with one, and I'll use it when I go to his house. Sometimes I'll bug him to let me make the weld, just so I can use the machine. Nostalgia, I guess. But they run a very smooth arc for a transformer.

They are an excellent machine for gouging but for general welding especially out of position the inverter welders are the way to go, much crisper arc
