We ordered some "M5 cage nuts" from a major electronics distributor to be used in the assembly of electronic racks we build. This was the response we got today:
"On your PO number 11503, for part number M5-CNSTNZ25, this part is coming from Europe. Due to legislation in Europe, they cannot knowingly or [b:0b69786412]willingly export parts that may go into any phase of the production of missiles, nuclear devices, or weapons of mass destruction.[/b:0b69786412]
Please fill out the attached Word document, and forward it back to us.
Thank you."
The "form" required us to specify the End User (our customer) and have them fill out and sign a separate EUU ("End User Undertaking") form with a hand signature (no electronic signatures allowed). No way we'll do that.
.... We cancelled the order... and got them somewhere else. Anyone want to argue about over-regulation?
