band saw blades

I have a 1957 Doall band saw. I need to order a spare blade for when this blade breaks or wears out. The length is 120" and it appears to be a half inch in depth. I would like a good metal cutting blade. I mostly cut thin material and occasionally something an inch thick.
Thank you

Lenox bi metal or full hard are awsome. Buying bulk blade and having someone weld up several can be very economical. Jim

I did good on the www. Bought a bi-metallic with variable pitch. Price was right and decided to get a couple, one for backup. That was in 2005. The backup is still in the package. Don't remember the name or place, but a little digging should get you something. I use it for everything I can get between the blade and the frame.

It was his dads business he's a farmer/firefighter. I have been to his shop he has some neat old equipment and new the old equipment to recondition saw blades is worth going to look at.

The day I was there he was grinding up 500lb bags of peanuts for animal feel he's a go get'er... He stopped to make me some ban saw blades but was out of stock for the blade I wanted. He told me he would ship the for free when he got what I wanted in but I never called him back... I need too tho...

You could try looking in McMaster Carr. They list a lot of different quality and length. When I order from them lately I get stuff the next day, or if not the day after that, very good company to do business with. Know what you want and have your payment info ready, they are an industrial supply co. and expect you to know.

I agree with Lenox bimetal but I would get around 10 tpi for thick metal and around 18tpi for thin sheetmetal you could get away with the fine tooth blade only but it would take a long time on the thicker stuff. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you everyone. At Tech. school we welded and annealed the blades for the school saw. I do not have the welder here at home, but I think the saw in the maintenance dept at work has one. I am off for about 8 more weeks and so I will not be able to check it out at this time. I was aware of the bi-metal blades for hand saws, but I was not sure if that was the best choice for this saw.
Thank you again

You might try the DoAll company. My dad used to buy blade stick from them. They sell all types of blades.

back last year before I had to leave work we had a whole boat load of cuts to make on 12x1/2 inch I beam. we had lennox starrett and a bunch of off- brand band saw blades. This saw was a year old 1 inch blade water cooled Kalamazoo saw. most of the off brand blades would not cut completely thru one cut till the teeth started breaking off. the starrett brand out lasted the lennox 3 blades to 1
