Has any one taken a train trip in the Canadian Rockies ? Did you go VIA Rail and another railroad ? Thinking on taking the trip in spring. thanks

I have no financial interest in this venture .....but it's high end and beautiful:

The wife and I did the drive up from Banff to Jasper with many stops along the way including Lake Louise and the glacier fields. We took three days to do it. I could have spent a month there. It was very cool. Would love to go back. We drove it so we could stop along the way to "smell the roses". I have heard the train is real cool too. Maybe next time. But the drive itself is awesome. We found a room in an older couples home in Jasper. Cheap boarding and very nice. They were very nice. I would recommend it.

Best suggestion would be to check the VIA web site, depending on where you start from, more than one train may be needed.
example the "Atlantic" only gets you from Halifax to Montreal. Then either a commute train to Toronto and area, or pick up a
train to the mid west?
A good idea to get out and see the " hills"

My wife, my sister, and myself took the train in northern rockies through Triple A. They have various routes and modes of transportation. Ours was three days from Vancouver by train, then four days bus riding. Lots of fun and great views on both train and bus. Check into it on line at Triple A.

I'd love to do that, but it's expensive, like $1,000 a day, right? For some reason a lot more than ocean cruises. Probably one reason, not nearly as many passengers.

Fly out to BC. You will find the VIA trip long, boring, uncomfortable, and expensive. Look up Rocky Mountaineer when you get there. They have great scenic rail tours.
