Furnace is a tool..right?

All,

I had a sibling call me, without heat in Minnesota...if you don't know, it can get cold around here at these calendar dates.

He told me the issue he was experiencing, the blower fan did not work; it sounded like a start capacitor. He dug around his spared motors and found a useable equivalent.

He did not achieve the functional fan and heating ability he wanted.

In addition to the bad cap, it turned out he had his thermostat set to off (after replacing the capacitor).

It was the start cap.

I feel like the IT guy that asks ....is it plugged in?

He is properly embarrassed and shamed from a brother...hehe.

Have a friend who had a wife ( now ex-wife ) who insisted on calling repairmen rather than discuss appliance problems beforehand. Water-softener guy came to "her" house and found softener was not plugged in. So it goes.

The elderly mother of one of my regular customers booked an appointment to have new bulbs installed in the dash of her import car as the dash had been dark and for years and she was not able to read her gauges at night.
The day she brought her car in she fought rush hour traffic in a snow storm for an hour and a half to get to the shop.
Went to bring the car into the shop, turned on the headlights and turned the thumbwheel to full brightness to see which bulbs needed to be replaced.
Every bulb was shinning bright.
Asked her to show me where she felt the dash was dark, as soon as she saw the lit up dash she asked me how I fixed it so fast.
Turned out she had been driving the car for years with the dash lights dimmed down and had no idea there was an adjustment dial to change it.
No charge and have a nice day as you have already paid too much in self inflicted grief.
