septic system, lift station failure

The pump is a Wayne 4/10 submersible. The electric plug was fried on both the power supply cord and the pump. I have wired them together and now it will be run manually, as needed, when the over full float turns the light on. Which means that when the light comes on, I will go out and plug the cord into the outlet and let it run until the light goes off, and then unplug it again. The other float, which I assume needs to be wired into one of the spliced wires, is not being used now. I assume that it needs to be splice into one of the wires that I spliced together. There is a green ground wire and a black and a white wire. Do I need to wire the float into one of these and if I do, which one? Looking at the new pumps it appears that the float is attached into the pumps, but on this one the float is separate. I had called a plumber, but it is deer season here and in a worst case situation, he is on vacation all week. I would like to get this fixed before next Monday. I am going to have surgery on my foot, and I will not be very mobile after that.
Thank you

Thank you, With the wires being as messed up as they were, I was not sure what to do with them. After I asked the question, it occurred to me that the float had two black wires and that mostly likely they went black to black to black.
Thanks again
