How can I find out what # and brand carb a Stihl chain saw came with. I can check with the dealer later this week but would like to know if I can find the info on line, its a MS192TC. I do not know the whole story. It belongs to a friends son. He tells me the boy took it to be repaired and was told the carb was junk and he needed a new one. He took the saw and went home, but didn't get the carb and I do not know why but that's where I am at. Thought I might pick up a replacement carb but need to know what it had first to search a Zama or Walbro or what ever. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I googled it and gleaned this off an expired ebay listing.

NEW STIHL OEM MS192TC ZAMA CARBURETOR C1Q-S257 1137 120 0650

I assume the 11 digit # at the end is the Stihl part#.

hanks I will see if I can find one on the net. Not against buying from a Stihl dealer if needed but this will help.

That you have the model number, should be able to find one pretty easy, maybe Ebay, Jacks, etc.

My concern though would be what else is missing?

Can't help you with the carb number, but at
least most of the time they are pretty
cheap. I had an 021 that I gave my dad that
needed a carb. The price of the new carb for
it was $23 from the dealer. I tried cleaning
it, dad tried cleaning it, made no
difference. The dealer said the ethanol
erodes some of the passages in the carb, you
supposedly can't see it. New carb totally
fixed it.

Mine as well. It looks like most of it is there, the air cleaner box as well as the air filter. The linkage rod for the throttle is there but the choke handle is missing. What else I don't know. So far I have seen a couple on line for over $60 and one over $80. The only lower cost $30 to $40 were out of stock. Not giving up yet and will check with the Stihl dealer.

Stihl wants to sell you a new carb for a hundred and someodd dollars.

You can get rebuild kits off Ebay.

Beware of the "will fit" carburetors. Sometimes, they won't. Fit, that is. The bolt holes line up but the external stuff is very specific to stihl and the carb won't fit in the saw.

I did some checking this morning and it is available from Stihl for $80.00 and I thought that was high but after checking all the cheaper one's that were will fit replacements and were out of stock he said order the OEM part from Stihl. Will be here in a week or so with some other stuff. I ordered two other Zama carbs for Stihl saws at the same time and they were $31.00 each. They did not know why the big difference. The guy is happy to get it going again so I am as well.
