logsplitter

bought a rugged split logsplitter with log lift 37 ton ram and slip on four way. am happy with it so far does anyone have one and do they like it?

I built one for the 3-point of our JD 4600, it only figures out to 11.9 tons, and it splits everything we have. Once it stalled on a big pi$$ elm crotch, but I turned it around and split it. Knotty tamarack splits hard too but it always does it. I can't imagine what anyone would need 37 tons for. Maybe it's measured like craftsman horsepower!

One of these days I'm going to get some pics of it, but Dad and I built one abiut 15 years ago. It's running a 65 HP Wisconsin, turning a 30 GPM pump, and is pushing with a 6" cylinder. It's been too long, but I think we set it up at 3000 psi, which makes it about 42 tons.

I made a six way to sit in front of the wedge that will take an average 18 inch long and make me six nice pieces. The main wedge is about 2 feet tall, and I have split pieces taller than the wedge.

I have also bent the main wedge when I got into an extremely gnarly piece of oak. I haven't figured out yet how to get it straightened back out...but it splits like it is so it's not that big of a deal at the moment.

That's a beast . We made upside down one for skidloader to split big logs before we put on gas engine splitter. And also a verticals three point one but its too slow.

Don't know if it's really 37 ton but it has a bigger piston than are other splitters. It does ok on oak are worst wood to split around here is gum it has funny twisted grain and extremely hard to split and after split rots pretty quick

There are probably some woods that are a lot harder to split than what we have in N MN. We have a lot of black ash and I tell people its easier to spit it with a maul than pick it up to put in the splitter! The elm and tamarack is a different story, and we have a lot of that, and it burns really well.

Locust and oak are the longest burning orange Osage is the longest. We have outside wood boiler we burn anything in it. Never been to Minnesota would like to travel up there and see the countryside

have a 22 ton Forest King pic is from the day I bought it 2 yrs ago
I was amassed at the strength of this thing
It's pushed it's way through a 6" hard maple log across the grain
I cut my wood at 20 - 22" and use a 4 way wedge on cherry maple ash and tamerac with little slowdown on most logs
I looked up your rugged splitter and it looks like a beast of a machine

I just did some math, and if I figured it right, a splitter with a 6 inch dia. piston and 2642 psi. would be 37 tons. I would imagine with a 4-way wedge it pushes a lot harder.

The four way doesn't seem to slow it down. But largest we split with it is 24 inches across usually pre split with skid loader splitter

China made but seems to be holding up so far. Too many other projects to make one looked for used and then decided to try rugged split
