Battery electrolyte (lead acid)

I have a new dry charged cycle battery that came with not enough electrolyte. Can I use electrolyte from another charged battery ? Does electrolyte wear out ? Thanks

Just as mogster says. Just barely cover the plates. As the batery charges the water volume expands. Top off a little at a time till you can fill to the bottom of the rings.

No and NO are your answers. If this is a new dry charged battery, you can buy acid at NAPA. No electrolyte doesn't wear out, but as the battery discharges there is a chemical change. Don't use acid out of a used battery.

Take the battery to a shop and have them fill it. Not to the fill rings either . The last batteries I bought expanded more than they used to, vented acid out the vent hoses and ruined the paint below the hose ends.

Slight twist to the topic. Bought an opaque plastic (flexible) sack of acid once. Had it sitting in a shed I seldom frequented. One day I was in the shed and noticed the bag was empty. Observing, I found a small jagged hole in the bottom of one corner.........never found the rat!
