Game camera question

Am rather new to game cams. Ending up getting many empty pictures, probably due to moving foliage. But when I do get lucky and picture a deer, they often look startled and are looking right at the camera. Are they sensing the camera about to take pix. I can't hear or see anything when the camera goes off and gets me. Wildgame Innovations with infrared flash.

I generally get fifteen ' empty ' pictures on each camera over a month . Birds fly past trigger the iris but are gone by the time the camera reacts , they generally have a one or two second delay for some reason .
Foliage also sets them off , usually in the morning when condensation or frost is burning off . It is no big problem , you don't have ghosts like I thought I did :)
I can hear the faintest of clicks from a relay in one camera , I'm fairly sure deer have better hearing than deaf old me .

Yep brush or weeds and wind tend to cause pictures of the brush or weeds. If you can good idea to clean out the brush and weeds before you activate the cam. As for them seeing it more then likely it is the smell that they notice not the cam it self. If it is real new it is likely to have a strong smell to it or even the scent of your self can cause that

I've had some pictures with two ears sticking up in a "V". Apparently the deer was smelling the camera from straight in front. Once in a while I get a totally blank pic I can't explain.

We have two cameras set up all the time here in norther Michigan. At night - the coyotes, bear, bobcat, musrat, deer and foxes for sure sense the camera. They come as stare at it and then usually run. Not sure if it is the LED black light or noise. The raccoons and possums pay no attention to the cameras. I get many false shots. I recently got a new camera that takes shots off to the side as well as in front and now we are finding out there are animals that trigger the camera but never get seen by the main lense. We DO get them in the side lenses. Of course weeds and wind also result in false responses.

Is there a sensitivity setting on the camera? I had a Bushnell that would take pics of bugs flying by...reset to low sensitivity and that helped. I guess I'll never know if its missing bigger critters though.

I'm on my second one, they are both supposed to no-flash, but I know the first one had a small red light that blinked when it took a picture, haven't checked this on but I think it does, have pictures of deer with their noses almost touching the camera.

Couple years ago the neighbors had a picture on one of theres that showed a bear in the first picture, the second picture showed a bears nose next to the camera and the last picture showed the inside of the bears mouth as it was clamping down on the camera. It mangled the camera but the card was ok. I had one of a doe licking the camera

Throw some corn around and the animals will stay longer. I think it makes a noise when it takes a pic . I see a lot of things looking directly into the camera.

Mine do the same thing. I think the sequence is that the camera senses movement, the infrared is triggered, startling the animal, and then the camera takes a picture.

toss amix of bait in front of the camers, Corn, apples, pears, eggs, fish guts, veggies. See what you get, Weed whack all the stuff that will blow in the wind and trigger it. Face it south or north not in the sun.when it is low. Engrave your cell phone number on it for the pawn shop owner. LOL
