Grease Fitting

I accidentally stumbled across a site that had an improved grease zerk adapter for a grease gun. It has a lever on the end whereby it opened the jaws much like those grabber gadgets that are about 30" long, a push button on one end and 4 spring fingers on the other, used for retrieving things where you can't get to them otherwise. You hold the lever back, put the fingers over the zerk and let go.

Used it yesterday and really made a difference for me with that hateful, nasty, very necessary job of greasing equipment. Don't remember the name. Maybe a google of grease gun adapter, or zerk adapter might bring it up for you. Acts like a 3rd hand and doesn't miss, or leak grease. If you can't find it, I can dig up the receipt.

Sounds interesting. Yes, a pic or something would be nice.

I got a LockNLube tip a couple of years ago. It was kind of pricy, but it works great and is worth every penny. I need to order another one or two. You can find it with a quick web search.

Pic ture for you.

They are indeed pricy, but worth every penny.

I grease semi trucks as part of my making a living.. And as some folks know, here in Michigan semi truck and trailers can legally have up to 11 axles under them (which most of the 30 trucks here at work do have).. I bought 3 of the couplers about 4 months ago, 2 for the units in the grease pit, and one on my cordless Lincoln gun.

First one started not sealing well a week or so ago, and I had to "rebuild" it, as I melted the rubber seal out of it heating up the area around a plugged zerk.. No fault of the manufacturer, just stupid operator error... Before the lock n lube couplers, it seemed like I would wear a "normal" gun coupler out in a month (I grease ALOT at work.. Usually 3 trucks every night, average gravel train has about 100 zerks)

They sure have made my life easier. If you grease a lot I HIGHLY recommend them. I too will agree in tight spots they may not work, but I have yet to find a spot they won't fit, I can get them on the steer shaft universals, and recessed tailgate latches.

If they're "too expensive" I'd say you don't have enough fittings to grease.

I have one and found enough situations where space and angles wont allow it's use that I went back to my pistol grip gun that allows me to hold the regular old grease tip on the fittings with my off hand.

For about the same price they also sell a rt angle fitting that accepts any gun fitting on the service end. The little mickey mouse rt angle you can buy at parts jobbers isn't worth throwing away if you ask me. I have about 6 guns and 2 are pistol grips, the rest are 2 hand levers, at least one with a 3' hose, another with an angled pipe, and a straight pipe and a couple with 18" flex hoses. Somehow, I have enough working to get the job done with half a box of blue gloves.

A tip about those "blue gloves".. If you're like me, you go through a half a box because every 3 minutes they burst open.. If I double em up, I can usually grease a whole unit before I ruin one, unless I catch something sharp. Don't know why it works, but it does.. Then I just peel the outer one off and slip a new pair over

The one good use for that right angle tip is on the older 4wd pick ups when you replace the ball joints with regreasable type its the only thing that will get on the fitting.
