I pushed my old Makita to hard cutting 3/8" plate my fraught and let the smoke out of it. I borrowed a grinder from a bud this is the one he loaned me. He was in the welding/fabrication business for years. He told me this is the only one that would hold up.

I have been looking at this one on Amazon for a week. This morning it showed a $25 off deal from Makita. :)

My favorite grinder, I'm on my second one, I ran the first one to death - overworked it, dropped it, mistreated it and etc for several years. It went through 3 or 4 switches, several cords and 2 or 3 sets of brushes. it was still running when I replaced it, but the comm. was shot and the brushes were arcing pretty bad. It was cheaper to buy a new one than repair it.

Metabo is the only grinder that holds up for the long haul. I run a welding supply store and I can tell you nothing compares

I wouldn't argue a bit about the quality of the Metabo. Very good grinder. In my area we have a couple good Makita dealers that stock parts. Not so for Metabo and several others. They can always get parts / accessories for them, but you have to wait anywhere from a day to a week. And sooner or later, you will need something. My loyalty is to the dealer(s) here. The last three + years I worked for wages was for an oil field service co., most of our elec. tools were Makita. The dealer had a lot to do with that.
