Anyone ever use cable clamps like this? I needed to do some special rigging yesterday to get the boat lift out of the water, and I found this in with my other cable clamps. It probably was left over from a swing scaffold job 44 years ago. They are idiot-proof, you can't saddle a dead horse, and they don't put a kink in the cable.

I use them all the time in my business, for the very reasons you have stated. They only go to 1-1/2" rope size; though. For larger stuff, we use 2 specially grooved plates with multiple bolts on each side. The plates are made to accept slings or a clevis.

Crosby makes both Fist Grips and U-bolt clamps. They are the most trusted maker of that stuff.
