somebody on this site mentioned an ointment for cuts and deep cuts. silver-- something? can't remember name.any good? what was the name? thanks,

I use blue-cote (sp) on all kind of things. I think it is mainly used on horses, but works well on me too. Someone can straighten me out on it's intended use.

The silver is only a tiny amount but it is a natural antibiotic. Not the easiest stuff to get hold of. Some states think it is some sort of magic item.

Neosporin works for some people but does nothing for me that's why I have to use Silver Sulfadiazine Cream and if that doesn't work I go with the big guns Altbax ointment ( $ 1,000.00 for 30 grams). I need a RX for both of these.

Silver Sulfadiazine cream is a burn cream but also good for healing wounds. Its not hard to get hold of but do need a RX.

Blue coat (sp?) Is used for many vetrenary uses, many species. We use it for sheep, goats, rabbits and llamas. And yes, humans. See no reason not to try on other species.
There is always the old standby, BAG BALM, udder ointment.

I had surgery a while back. The dressing had a special pod in it, was told it contained silver. Should have asked more detailsn but had more important questions at the time.

Many studies have found the silver products and neosporin don't do much to speed up the healing of a wound. What they both do is the same thing though, they are antibiotics/antimicrobial. A wound infected with bacteria heals slower than a clean wound, that's what these products are for.

Why is there no mention of "monkey blood", you have to use that first on your cuts and scrapes.

Monkey blood ( Mercurochrome - Merthiolate) are not used much today because they contain Mercury and on broken skin it can interfere with healing.

I have used zincofax ointment on many cuts or skin cracks(especially on the fingers in winter) with good results. No Rx needed.
