My hands are almost doubled over with a genetic problem common to Nordic races [ how I ended up with it is an enigma ].
It's called Dupuytren's contracture and until recently was treated by fairly major surgery .
Next month it is being treated with a new drug called Xiaflex that is supposed to dissolve the cords preventing me from straightening my fingers , it is a fairly new procedure in Australia .
Has anyone had this done ? It seems almost too good to be true , it is a series of injections and then some manipulation over a few weeks instead of having your palms laid open, cut to ribbons and then suffering months of recuperation .
