Dehumidifiers-a fix

Even though I hated to spend the $s, two years ago July the pastor kept at me so I bought a dehumidifier for the church. It worked well the first two seasons. This year the pump that pumps the water out through the wall through a vinyl tube quit. Today one of the guys opened it up and found algae in two interior tubes between the pan and the pump. They need to be cleaned apparently at least every other year.

Parents had two dehumidifiers quit working. took them apart and cleaned the crud out of them and now working good. There is supposed to be a treatment for algae and a spray for the coils don't know the name though.

I've got two dead ones sitting in the cellar right now.
And a musty cellar. I can't seem to get them to last
past two years. Mine run right into a sump pump.
They seem to lose their freon or something. I hate
the things.

You could probably use the same Hydrex A/C tablets that are used in A/C condensate pumps to eliminate bacteria and algae. You place a tablet in the drain pan periodically and it keeps everything clean.

YOU have a good diagnosis.

Keep those dehimidifiers a goi'N. A good portable fan in the cellar will help-out too. Keeps the bugs from growing. VENTILATION procedures for canning those garden VEGGIES.

You can always put a couple of drops of Clorox in the pan every week during the heavy use season. I do it with mine.
